INNOVATIVE MINISTRY

INNOVATIVE MINISTRY

The realisation of the mission by Jesus Christ has many dimensions. To give focused attention to a dimension of mission for its effectiveness and in ensuring its significant contribution to the over-all mission of Christ, social apostolate and new and innovative ministries have been given the status of a separate ministry. It is not detached from mission proper but part of it to sustain the overall objectives of the mission of Christ.

Our province has an Agency for Social Work called, “FIID India” (Fransalian Initiative for Integral Development in India). In our option for the poor and the marginalised, we have enhanced FIIDIndia, the Social work organ of the Province with more personnel. Our Social Apostolate is coordinated through FIID India, which is also the official development organ of the Northeast India Province of MSFS. It works with a Vision of creating a just and equitable, peaceful and prosperous society and with a Mission of promoting progress through personal empowerment and socio-economic as well as cultural development of the marginalized of the Region. In our option for the poor and the marginalised, we have enhanced FIID India.

Many of these services like those given to the handicapped, the orphans, street-children, the aged, the sick, the migrants, the youth, women-empowerment, and prisoners come under the umbrella of this ministry. Some of these services are rendered through institutions; others are given by way of programmes and outreach services.

Media and communications have become powerful instruments of proclaiming and disseminating the Joy of the Gospel. Many provinces after taking initial small steps are now launching in a big way to use media and communications at the service of the mission of Christ. This also comes under Social and the Innovative Ministry of the Congregation.

Reading the signs of the time and responding to the needs of the Church in new and creative ways, we will continue to promote social and innovative ministry in our missions.
