FRANSALIAN FORMATION

Fransalian Formation:

Religious formation is a program for those who feel that God may be calling them to religious life. Formation helps you to understand what a religious vocation is all about and to gain insight into unique aspects of a religious community.Fransalian Formation is essentially a missionary formation. Being a missionary congregation, our formation is for the mission and in the mission. Through his formation, a Fransalian cultivates a genuine love for the people whom he is called to serve.

STAGES OF FORMATON

  1. MINOR SEMINARY: - (Three Years) Minor seminary provides the ambience for initiation into a life of religious discipline. It is also a time for a careful evaluation of the genuineness of the call to be MSFS.
  2. PRE-NOVITIATE: (One Month)

This period starts with the fostering of the seed of vocation in the prospective candidate and continues during the period of Orientation. Only candidates who show genuine signs of the vocation and sufficient mental and emotional maturity are admitted to the pre-novitiate.

  1. NOVITIATE& FIRST PROFESSION: (One Year)

During the novitiate with the guidance of the director, each novice strives for a fuller understanding of his vocation to the religious life. A candidate is instructed to have a clear understanding of his vocation to religious life, the spirituality of St. Francis de sales, history of the Congregation, and the spirit of Fr. Mermier, our Founder. At the successful completion of Novitiate, candidates make their first profession by which they become members of the congregation.

  1. PHILOSOPHY (3 Years)

Our formation includes a period of philosophical studies to lead the students gradually to a solid and consistent knowledge of man, the world and God. A candidate during this period, acquires his bachelor’s degree in Philosophy and a Secular Bachelors’ degree in any subjects of one’s choice.

  1. REGENCY (One Year)

Regency provides an year of practical experience and pastoral exposure to a scholastic who has completed philosophy studies. He is appointed to a parish, a mission station or an institution where he is assigned specific works under the guidance of a superior.

  1. THEOLOGY&DIOCONATE  (4 Years)

During this period, the candidates engage themselves in theological studies to towards maturity in faith and religious life by way of building personal convictions based on a serious study of Sacred Scripture, Christian Doctrine, Morals, traditions, practices of the church, the spirituality of st. Francis De sales, etc. The candidates receive the order of ministries like Acolyte and Lector during the period. At the completion of 6 years in temporary profession, candidates make their perpetual profession thereby becoming permanent members of the Congregation. Towards the end of Theology studies, candidates receive the order of Diaconate. After diaconate ordination, deacons are assigned to parishes for diaconate ministry. At the successful completion of the theological studies and diaconate ordination, they are promoted to the order of Priesthood.
