DIVINE MERCY PARISH YINKIONG
Divine Mercy Parish, Yinkiong was inaugurated and blessed by Most Rev. John Thomas Kattrukudiyil, the first bishop of Itanagar diocese on September 26, 2006, in the presence of Fr Abraham Mullenkuzhy, the Provincial, of the fathers and sisters from neighbouring parishes, the catholics of Yinkiong parish and a good number of the local people. It was carved out from the parish of Pasighat. It is situated 540 km from the capital and headquarter of the Diocese of Itanagar. The parish is spread about at a distance of 400 km reaching up to the China border. It was a hard and tough mission but full of beautiful scenic beauty and loving people. The main area is spread out on both sides of the mighty Siang river.
Over the years, the parish made significant progress in establishing new communities and strengthening the existing communities. The existing communities became more vibrant and village churches were made better or renovated at Pango, Bomdo, Janbo, Jengging, Karko and Riga. Exposure programmes and pilgrimage to Kerala and Goa were organised for strengthening believers’ faith.
