SFS SEMINARY: MEDZIPHEMA

In 1992-1993, the seminary functioned as MSFS Novitiate with Fr Jose Mundoly as the Novice Master and Fr Sebastian Neendukunnel as the Socius. Later the Novitiate was shifted to Chabua. SFS Seminary, Medziphema, was started in February 1988 with Fr George Parampukattil as its first Rector. The purpose was to promote more local vocations. Originally it was an apostolic school which admitted students of Class VIII –X as candidates. The seminary was formally inaugurated on November 14, 1998 by Rev. Fr Emile Mayoraz, Superior General of the Missionaries of St Francis de Sales.

From 2012 it is the Minor Seminary that trains aspirants who have completed one year of orientation at VinayaBhavan Seminary, Kerala. The students here do their two-year courses (Class XII) in the SFS Higher Secondary School. In 2016 the students from the seminary secured stellar positions in the Nagaland Board Examination. Out of 13 students, eight secured first division and the rest secured II class.
