HOLY ROSARY SCHOOL PURUL

As a part of his evangelization work, ScariaNedumalasdb established a village primary school at Purul in 1972 between Purul Atongba and Akutpa villages. It was called St Savio English School. After the arrival of the MSFS in 1988, the school was renamed as Holy rosary school, after the patroness of the parish. The MSFS fathers decided to raise it up to a High School in spite of the adverse situations prevailed then due to lack of transportation, infrastructure, communication facilities etc., and reached class X in 1994. School was the centre of activities and the people were ready to do anything for the school. The hills were levelled by the people of the village to construct school at Purul. The school received Government recognition in 1994. Sincethen, the Rosary High School has had outstanding record and overall performance in High School leaving certificate conducted by Board of Secondary Education, Manipur. Currently there are more than 450 students (220 catholics), 13 teachers, two priests and four nuns on the teaching staff.

There are four more schools in the villages under the parish: St Joseph’s School Koide (KG-VI), St John Bosco School, Oinam (KG – Class V), St Paul School, Thingbakhullen (KG-VII), and Holy Cross School, Thingbakhunou (KG-VII).
