Kaying is a remote village, 45 km away from Aalo the district headquarter, located in Kaying Mandal, under West Siang district of Arunachal Pradesh state with a population of around 5000. The population of Kaying is a mixture of different tribes , the majority being Boris. Most people make their living from agriculture. Rice, maize, millet, wheat, pulses, sugarcane, ginger, and oilseeds are the major crops cultivated in the area.
St. Joseph’s school was officially opened on February 22, 1999 with Fr Job Karikkampally as the first headmaster in a bamboo structure with proper permission from the civil authority. The school began with admission to both LKG and UKG. A new school building was inaugurated and blessed on September 9, 2000 and in 2010, the school building was extended. Though located in a remote place, it gives quality education and moulds the minds of many young and talented students. Today it has grown to be one of the prominent schools of the area with a total of 600 students on its rolls with 25 teaching staff excluding the religious staff and support staff.
