ST FRANCIS DE SALES PARISH CHABUA

The first Parish of the MSFS in the diocese of Dibrugarh was opened on May 31, 2015. Most Rev. Joseph AindSDB, Bishop of Dibrugarh diocese officially declared St Francis de Sales parish opened and installed Fr Francis Belo, the first Arunachalee priest hailing from Daparijo parish as its first Parish Priest. It is carved out from the parishes of Dibrugarh and Tinsukia, and is spread over 12 villages consisting of a population of around 3,000 faithful from 500 Adivasi families. The faithful are all tea-garden workers. Initially Fr Francis Belo resided at the Novitiate and catered to the spiritual needs of the parish community.
