In Aalo, the Holy Mass and Prayers were conducted in a small hut till 2000. From 2001 the construction of the present existing church had began and it was completed in 2003. Rt. Rev. Robert Kerkatta, Bishop of Tezpur inaugurated and blessed the new church. It was looked after by the Fathers from Kaying. The parish of St. Mary’s Church, Aalo was erected on 2nd July 2006 by Rt. Rev. John Thomas Kuttrukudiyil D.D. and Rev. Fr. George Parampukattil was appointed as the first parish priest. The priests here engage in full-time parish ministry with no involvement in the educational ministry of the church which is managed by the sisters. The regular and constant visits to families and people have yielded very satisfying results with an increasing number of people embracing Christianity every year.

The Congregation of the sisters of the cross of Chavanod (SCC)

The Sisters of the Cross of Chavanod or the Holy Cross sisters joined the parish in May 2007 with Srs Dorothy Hajory, Priya Antony and Flora Celine as pioneers. In 2008 the Diocese of Itanagar opened St Mary’s School at Puakgumin and entrusted it to the Sisters for its management.
